The village of Paricatuba is located 30 kilometers from Manaus Upon arriving at the village, we find a building built in 1898 in the middle of the jungle with material imported from Europe at the time of the heyday of rubber. The building had several uses, including the Arts and Crafts Lyceum and even the House of Detention.
Today, the ruins of the building are preserved, protected by the forest that invaded it with its huge roots of apuizeiro, a species of fig tree (ficus). It is classified as historical and cultural heritage of the state.
