Travelling through Venezuela and the Amazon by bus is a cheap alternative to expensive flights. From Manaus there are regular bus services to Boa Vista, Presidente Figueiredo, Santa Elena, Puerto La Cruz and Caracas.
When travelling to Venezuela, we recommend to purchase the tickets in Manaus only to the border (Santa Elena), and then arrange there for a new ticket to the final destination. By this you avoid the “official” exchange rate to the Bolivar (on the “street” in Santa Elena you get more Bolivares for your USD/EUR/R$).
Time table subject to change, prices are just an orientation:
|Manaus||Boa Vista||Daily||18:00, 19:00, 20:00, 23:00||R$ 130|
|Manaus||Puerto la Cruz||Daily||10:00 a.m.||R$ 245.-|
|Manaus||Rio Preto Eva||Daily||06:00, 08:00, 10:00 am||R$ 22.-|
|Manaus||Presidente Figueiredo||Daily||06:00, 08:00, 10:00, 13:00 am||R$ 35.-|
For Santa Elena purchase ticket to Boa Vista and then a new ticket locally. For Caracas purchase ticket to Puerto La Cruz or Santa Elena and then continue with Venezuelan bus company. Further routes are going from Manaus to Itacotiara (boats to Maues, Santarem and local communities), Novo Airao and Manacaparu. Leonardo (group guides) will be happy to help with more details.
